A police dog apprehended a Santa Rosa man suspected of burglary at the Santa Rosa RV Sales lot early this morning, a police sergeant said.
A security officer at the RV business at 2885 Santa Rosa Ave. called police around 3 a.m. about prowlers on the sales lot, Sgt. Eric Goldschlag said.
Officers, including one with a K9 partner, set up a perimeter and gave a loud warning to any suspects hiding on the lot to disclose themselves, Goldschlag said.
Police unleashed Blitz, the K9, who immediately tracked a scent underneath an RV on the lot.
Blitz pulled a suspect who was hiding in the undercarriage out from beneath the RV, Goldschlag said. The dog bit the suspect several times when he tried to escape, but the suspect surrendered, Goldschlag said.
Police said the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Bradford William Page, had rummaged through at least two RVs looking for valuables. Page was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment of dog bites.
Page was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for attempted burglary, resisting arrest and violating probation.
Goldschlag said the business has been burglarized in the past and that police might not have discovered Page’s presence without Blitz’s help.
