Salvador Olivarria Zambrano Jr. Fatally Shot Near Hwy 101 Outside Of Salinas

A 45-year-old man was shot and killed near Salinas early this morning, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers responded around 1:10 a.m. to reports of a body lying in the northbound lane of Harrison Road near Russell Road off of U.S. Highway 101 in unincorporated Monterey County, sheriff’s officials said.

The victim, who was identified as Salinas resident Salvador Olivarria Zambrano, Jr. was found in the roadway suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office.

First responders performed CPR on Zambrano but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing, deputies said.
