Rodney Williams arrested for alleged murder of Derrick Whitfield in San Francisco

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a 23-year-old man in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood Tuesday night, police said today. Rodney Williams, of San Francisco, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly shooting and killing Derrick Whitfield, another San Francisco man, around 9 p.m. Tuesday in the first block of Turner Terrace in the Potrero Annex public housing area, according to police.

Whitfield was found suffering from gunshot wounds to his head and upper body. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries that night, police said. Williams was arrested on suspicion of homicide and a probation violation out of San Mateo County, according to police.
