An auto burglary suspect found prowling outside a Milpitas hotel on Tuesday is now in police custody after a phone call from a concerned citizen, police said today. Police said they got a call on Tuesday around 6 a.m. reporting that a man was peering into windows at the Larkspur Landing Hotel and trying to open car doors in the hotel parking lot.
Officers arriving on the scene spotted a man who matched the caller’s description. When they approached, he dumped items from his pockets and ran, police said. Police detained and arrested 32-year-old William Dunn of Bay Point at the scene. When he was arrested, police said Dunn was in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, burglary tools, and items taken from an auto burglary reported earlier at the Hampton Inn in Fremont. Police also report that Dunn’s arrest puts him in violation of his probation for another crime.
