Police are investigating a shooting that injured a man outside a Pinole liquor store on Saturday night, a police sergeant said.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the parking lot of Jay Vee Liquors in the 2700 block of Pinole Valley Road around 11:40 p.m., Sgt. Will Palmini said.
The victim and suspect left the scene before officers arrived, he said.
Police interviewed witnesses and found expanded shell casings in addition to other evidence of a shooting at the parking lot, Palmini said.
Kaiser Permanente Richmond Medical Center contacted police a short time later to report a gunshot victim arrived to the hospital and was being treated in the emergency room, he said.
The male victim suffered gunshot wounds to both his legs that were not considered to be life-threatening, according to Palmini.
Investigators learned the victim exchanged words with the suspects at the parking lot before he was shot while entering a vehicle, Palmini said.
The first suspect is described a black man around 17 to 21 years old standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. He is clean-shaven, has dark curly hair and last seen wearing a red shirt.
The other suspect is described as a black man around 18 to 21 years old standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall weighing between 170 and 180 pounds with short hair. He has an Oakland A’s tattoo on the back of his left forearm.
The suspect vehicle is described as a silver Kia Sportage or similar vehicle last seen entering eastbound Interstate Highway 80 from Pinole Valley Road.
