A 10-year-old boy walking in the parking lot of an Antioch elementary school was injured when a driver accidentally struck him on Monday afternoon, police and fire officials said today.

Fire crews were dispatched to Mno Grant Elementary School at 4325 Spaulding St. around 2:55 p.m. where they found the boy suffering from complaints of pain and injuries, according to Capt. Robert Marshall of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Marshall said.

The boy was airlifted to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland “as a precaution,” said Antioch police Sgt. Tony Morefield. The driver, who was believed to be a relative of the boy, stopped immediately after the collision and cooperated fully with police, Morefield said.
