Santa Rosa police have arrested two of its 10 most wanted offenders less than a week after the debut on May 7 of the Most Wanted Offenders Program on its website.

Valentino Anthony Kumar, 29, was arrested May 8 on a Post Release Community Supervision warrant, police Sgt. John Cregan said.

Kumar is a documented Norteno gang member with a history of firearm and narcotics possession, Detective Robert Reynolds said.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office learned Kumar was hiding in a residence in Boyes Hot Springs. Kumar fled when deputies arrived and he was found in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia when he was eventually detained and arrested, Cregan said.

The sheriff’s deputies developed information about Kumar independent of the Ten Most Wanted list but informed Santa Rosa police about the arrest, according to Cregan.

An employee of the Best Buy store on Santa Rosa Avenue recognized one of the Ten Most Wanted offenders, Clark James Grimwood, as someone who frequented the store, Cregan said.

The employee printed Grimwood’s photo from the list and recognized him when he showed up on May 13, Reynolds said. A store manager confirmed Grimwood matched the photo, police were called and Grimwood was arrested after a brief struggle.

Grimwood, 31, was arrested on an outstanding Post Release Community Supervision warrant and for resisting arrest. He has a history of weapons and drug offenses, and was on probation for drug, theft and assault offenses Reynolds said.

The Best Buy employee will receive a monetary award for information that led to Grimwood’s arrest, Cregan and Reynolds said.

Santa Rosa police added the names of two men with a history of sex offenses. Grant Lavelle Hudson III, 67, is a convicted sex offender with felony warrants for failing to register as a sex offender and lewd and lascivious acts with a child under age 14.

Martin Salcedo Rodriguez, 43, has 10 felony warrants for molesting five victims under age 14, Reynolds said.
