Petaluma police are looking for the public’s help in identifying a man investigators believe used a fake name to steal rental equipment. Investigators said the man rented a flatbed trailer and generator from Cal West Rentals on Saturday. When the equipment wasn’t returned, the company determined the man used someone else’s identity for the rental, according to police.

Investigators said the company contacted the identity theft victim, who said he had also received calls from other companies reporting similar incidents. The rental equipment is described as a 2002 Demco DT6000E flat bed car trailer with California license plate 4AF199 and a Honda model EU2001 generator.
