Monterey County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man on suspicion of drug and stolen property offenses after responding to a report of a prowler at a home in Carmel early Tuesday morning.

Ryan Scully, 27, of Carmel, was seen by a passerby jumping a rear fence and entering the back of the home located in the 3500 block of Fisher Place at about 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with Carmel police and a California Highway Patrol motor unit, responded to a call and spotted a man matching the description of the possible prowler inside the home.

Upon contact with the suspect, later identified as Scully, deputies said they discovered stolen items, illegal narcotics, and narcotics paraphernalia inside the home. Deputies later learned that Scully lived at the home.

Scully was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and illegal narcotic substances.

The sheriff’s office and the Carmel Police Department have been actively investigating several burglaries in the area and said they will be working with victims to identify the recovered property.
