An Antioch man who was hospitalized after crashing into another car while allegedly fleeing from Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputies in Pittsburg on Tuesday is behind bars today, sheriff’s officials said.
Casey Beck, 25, was transferred from Contra Costa Regional Medical Center to county jail in Martinez on Tuesday, hours after allegedly plowing into another car and leading deputies on a chase through Bay Point and Pittsburg, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
The chase began around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after Beck failed to yield when a deputy tried to pull him over in the area of Clearland Circle in Bay Point, Lee said.
The suspect, accompanied by a female passenger, sped away and led deputies on a pursuit that ended when he drove into oncoming traffic, according to Lee.
Deputies found Beck a short time later after he crashed into another car at Leland Road and Railroad Avenue.
The occupants of the other car were treated at the scene and released, while Beck and his passenger were both taken to hospitals for their injuries.
The woman was treated for minor injuries at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and released.
Beck was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, evading police, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and probation violation. He is being held in the Martinez Detention Facility without bail.
