A 20-year-old Santa Cruz man with a pellet pistol was arrested for being in possession of a pound of marijuana in Scotts Valley on Friday afternoon, police said.
Christian Zane Hudson was driving near the intersection of state Highway 17 and Mt. Hermon Road at about 2:50 p.m. when Scotts Valley police initiated a traffic stop.
Officers stopped Hudson in a vehicle for a mechanical violation, at which time the officers also detected an odor of marijuana inside the vehicle.
A records check indicated the driver was on felony probation for prior drug offenses, police said.
The officers conducted a vehicle search and located a pound of processed marijuana and a loaded semi-automatic pellet pistol in Hudson’s possession.
Hudson was arrested for transportation of marijuana and placed on a probation hold, according to police.
