Police are searching for a suspect who was seen burglarizing an Antioch home and brandishing a handgun at the victim as he fled the scene. The victim returned to his home in the 3000 block of Lovebird Way around 1:45 p.m. Thursday to find a male suspect inside in the process of burglarizing it, according to police. The resident confronted the suspect and tried to detain him but the suspect was able to flee out the front door.

Police said the victim started to follow the suspect, who then pulled out a gun and pointed it at him. The resident followed at a distance but lost sight of the suspect after he jumped the fence into a backyard of a home in the 3000 block of Swallow Way, according to police.

Officers arriving on the scene set up a perimeter around the home and searched the yard but were unable to find the suspect. Police said no shots were fired and the victim was uninjured. The incident remains under investigation.
