A man killed by a driver who fled the scene in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood last weekend has been identified as 68-year-old William Hoch Jr., an Alameda County coroner’s sergeant said today. The Oakland man was walking in the 5000 block of Telegraph Avenue around 7:35 a.m. last Saturday when a car struck him, according to police. The driver fled the scene and has not been identified.
Hoch was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. Oakland police Capt. Anthony Toribio said investigators continue to search for evidence that might lead them to the driver. He said police do not have a suspect description. “We are still very much in need of any witnesses that may have seen what happened,” he said.
