Police are attempting to locate a suspect who burglarized several cars in Hercules Tuesday afternoon. The first burglary occurred around 11:40 a.m. in the parking lot of a Starbucks coffee shop at 3700 San Pablo Ave., according to police. An officer arrived on the scene to find that someone had shattered the left rear passenger window of a 1993 Toyota Camry.

The victim reported that small electronic devices had been stolen from the car, police said. At 12:30 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a car burglary in the parking lot of the Franklin Canyon Golf Course off of state Highway 4, according to police. A second auto burglary was reported in the same parking lot about an hour later. Police said in both cases, the victims reported that someone had smashed a car window and stolen dog carriers, which the suspect may have believed were duffel bags.

One of the dog carriers was returned to the car after it was found to be empty and the second one was found in some nearby bushes. Police said witnesses reported seeing a gray or silver sedan near the scene at the time of the burglaries. Investigators believe the three burglaries may be related and are attempting to identify a suspect.
