Three boys arrested Monday are suspected of breaking into Wilcox High School in Santa Clara and killing several animals, vandalizing cars and stealing snacks last weekend, a police spokesman said. The children, all of middle school age, somehow broke into the high school at 3250 Monroe St., starting on Saturday and again on Sunday, Santa Clara police Lt. Kurt Clarke said.

During the weekend, the trio entered the school’s automotive shop, where they forced their way into some vehicles, Clarke said. The boys entered a room where students had kept animals in cages and then allegedly killed a rabbit, a duck and two roosters, Clarke said. They also broke into a “snack shack” containing food and beverages used in school activities and stole some of the items, according to Clarke.

Based on interviews with school officials and others, police located and arrested the boys on suspicion of vandalism, burglary and cruelty to animals and booked them into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall, Clarke said. No people were injured and police are still investigating the case, he said.
