A suspect has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man in Oakland last month, police said today. The suspect was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in connection with the fatal shooting of Shamarr Owens in the 900 block of 43rd Street near Market Street at about 5:30 p.m. on March 28, Oakland police Capt. Anthony Toribio said today.
Owens, an Emeryville resident, was shot along with another victim who was critically injured. Both victims were taken to a hospital, where Owens died later that evening, according to police. Police and U.S. Marshals officials have not yet released additional information about the arrest, including the suspect’s name.
Toribio said today that the investigation is still active and authorities are searching for at least one other suspect. Any witnesses or anyone with information about the shooting has been asked to contact the Oakland police homicide.
