Police today identified the male suspect and female victim of a murder-suicide that took place on the porch of a Vallejo home on Thursday afternoon, a police lieutenant said. Rupert Earl Ignacio, 62, of Vallejo, shot Crystal Ann Boggs, 52, also of Vallejo, at a residence in the 1000 block of Thelma Avenue where they both lived, Lt. Sid DeJesus said.

Police did not disclose a possible reason for the fatal shootings. Police received several calls around 4:40 p.m. reporting that a man had shot a woman and himself, DeJesus said. Officers responded to the scene and found Ignacio and Boggs on the porch of the residence.

They were both pronounced dead at the scene, the lieutenant said. Police found a large caliber handgun believed to be the murder weapon at the scene. Witnesses told police the man shot the woman as she sat on the porch and then shot himself, DeJesus said.
