Lawrence Vanzandt and Matthew Sheahan arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, counterfeit bills in Novato

Two men were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, counterfeit bills and other crime-related items in Novato on Wednesday night, according to police. Officers who conducted a foot patrol in the area of America’s Best Value Inn at 7600 Redwood Boulevard and contacted two people inside a car around 11 p.m., police said. One of vehicle’s occupants appeared to be under the influence of illegal drugs, according to police.

With the assistance of a K-9 unit, officers searched the vehicle and uncovered illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, counterfeit currency, burglary tools and identity theft-related items, police said. Novato resident Lawrence Vanzandt, 56, and transient Matthew Sheahan, 40, were arrested and booked into Marin County Jail.
