Santa Cruz police today released a sketch of a man suspected of committing lewd behavior in front of two young girls on a neighborhood street in Santa Cruz on April 8.

The man was driving his car at about 7:20 p.m. that day when he went by the two girls, ages 8 and 13, as they walked near the corner of Dufour Street and Graham Avenue, Deputy Police Chief Steve Clark said.

The suspect circled back, pulled his car up beside the girls and rolled down his passenger window to get their attention, Clark said.

As the girls looked into his car, they noticed that he was wearing only a gray shirt and he was looking at them while masturbating in the car, according to police.

The girls later told police that they screamed and ran away.

The man was described as 40 to 50 years old, with a “large belly, fat thighs and skinny ankles.” The license plate on his car may have had an “H” and the number 7 on it, police said.

The girls said his car was white and looked similar to a Toyota Prius.

The Police Department is asking that anyone with information about the incident to contact its investigations unit at (831) 420-5820.
