Police in Salinas are attempting to locate suspects in a drive-by shooting that damaged a business but did not cause any injuries on Thursday morning. Officers said two men were standing in front of a business in the 100 block of West Laurel Drive at about 7:15 a.m. when a car drove by and a passenger fired one shot at the business. No one was hurt and one of the men standing in front of the store ran from the scene before police arrived.

The second man told police he did not know the man who ran from the scene nor the suspects in the car. The gunfire shot through the top of the business’s entryway but did not hit anyone inside. Police recovered one bullet casing, officers said. Officers attempted to locate the suspect vehicle but were unsuccessful. Police said the car involved is described as a white newer-model Nissan Maxima sedan or similar vehicle with tinted windows.
