A young man shot in a West Oakland neighborhood this morning died in an ambulance on his way to the hospital, according to police. The shooting was reported at 9 a.m. in the 1000 block of Willow Street, police Officer J. Moore said. The man stumbled into a corner liquor store before being taken away by an ambulance, according to a neighbor.
The neighbor said he heard gunshots on the street outside his window and saw a victim taken out of Sharifs Market at 1044 Willow St. and into an ambulance. The man died in the ambulance on his way to the hospital, Moore said. Police are searching for a suspect vehicle but have not yet released a description.
