Megan Huntsman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police found police found the decomposing bodies of seven newborns stuffed in cardboard boxes in her garage.
Megan Huntsman, 39, has been charged with six counts of murder after the grim discovery was made at her former home in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
The new occupiers of the house called police after discovering the remains of an infant while clearing out the garage, police chief Michael Roberts said.
Officers found six more newborn, all wrapped in separate cardboard boxes.
Six of the newborns appeared to have died from asphyxiation and the seventh was believed to be stillborn, Captain Roberts said.
“This is unbelievable, I can’t even fathom it. It doesn’t make any sense at all,” Roberts added.
Police believe the seven children were born to Huntsman from about 1996 to 2006.
She is the only person of interest in the case and was cooperative with police, Roberts added.
Pleasant Grove is about 35 miles south of Salt Lake City.
