Watsonville police are investigating a shooting that injured a man on Saturday evening. Officers responded to a report of a drive-by shooting in the first block of Roosevelt Street shortly after 7:15 p.m., Sgt. Eric Montalbo said. A man with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso was found conscious but uncooperative with police, he said.
Investigators learned that the victim stopped and parked his car along the curb on Roosevelt Street when the suspect vehicle pulled up next to him, Montalbo said. A person from the suspect vehicle fired several gunshots at the victim while he was still sitting in his car, he said.
The suspect vehicle then fled east on California Street, according to Montalbo. The man was airlifted for his injuries, Montalbo said. No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.
