A 59-year-old man is in jail after allegedly shooting a man with whom he had been arguing in Bay Point on Friday night, a Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman said today.
Deputies arrested Patrick Laughlin of Bay Point on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the shooting reported around 9:20 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of North Broadway Avenue, according to sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee.
The victim, a 55-year-old Bay Point man, was found in front of a home suffering from a gunshot wound, Lee said.
He was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where he was last listed in stable condition.
Laughlin apparently knew the victim and had been in an argument with him prior to the shooting, Lee said.
The spokesman said detectives plan to present their case against the suspect to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday.
