A homicide victim found by a hiker in an open space area near Calle Arboleda on Saturday has been identified as a 29-year-old Novato man, police said today. The victim, Jimmy Lucero Tejada, was found around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday a short distance from the road by a hiker, officers said. Police said officers arrived on the scene, found Tejada’s body and determined that Tejada had been murdered.
The Marin County coroner responded to the scene to investigate the death. Novato police detectives are actively investigating the killing and following a number of potential leads. Police said there is no apparent threat to the community at this time, but no suspects are in custody.
