Three men were arrested for allegedly robbing a Salinas store at gunpoint Friday night, police said. Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Santa Cruz Market located at 19 East Romie Lane at about 8:35 p.m. Friday, according to police. A responding officer retrieved a suspect vehicle description and the car was found shortly after in the area of John and Abbott streets, police said.
Police said three suspects fled from the car after it had turned onto Spring Street. Officers found and arrested the three suspects, Sean Coffer, 20, and 19-year-olds Miguel Martinez and Michael Lopez, police said. Investigators learned that Coffer and Lopez entered the market with guns and demanded money from the clerk.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, they fled to an awaiting car driven by Martinez, police said. One gun was recovered in the arrest. All three men were booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and probation violations, as well as gun charges.
