A 27-year-old man punched a security guard in an attempt to steal a pair of socks from a Mission District store on Monday afternoon, according to San Francisco police. The suspect entered the store on the 2600 block of Mission Street early in the afternoon and put on a shirt, underwear and socks, police said.
The suspect paid for the shirt and underwear, but not the socks, according to police. He then ran out of the store, police said. When a security guard tried to intercept the suspect, the suspect punched him several times in the face, police said. Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of robbery.
