A man who was killed in a shooting in Oakland on Friday evening has been identified as a 27-year-old Emeryville resident, a police spokeswoman said today. The victim, identified as Shamarr D. Owens, was killed and another person was injured in a shooting reported at 5:30 p.m. in the 900 block of 43rd Street, according to Oakland police spokeswoman Johnna Watson.
Both victims were transported to the hospital and Owens was pronounced deceased later that evening. The condition of the second victim has not been released, Oakland police Officer Reggie Brown said. No suspects are in custody and a motive for the shooting has not been determined, Brown said.
