The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 27-year-old man Tuesday in connection with a series of recent thefts and burglaries of credits cards in the Aptos area and in Monterey County, a deputy said.

Michael Hague was taken into custody at 7 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of five thefts and burglaries in the Aptos area over the last two months, Deputy Ryan Kennedy said.

During the arrest at Hague’s Aptos home in the 300 block of Siesta Drive, deputies also seized items from reported thefts of credit cards in Monterey County and contacted the victims of the crimes, Kennedy said.

Investigators believe that Hague stole the credit cards from homes and vehicles in Aptos and Monterey County, according to Kennedy.

The suspect then used the credit cards to make fraudulent purchases on the victims’ accounts, Kennedy said.

Kennedy said deputies are also seeking to interview two other suspects who may be associated with the crimes – Allan Smith, 36, and Dino Moschetti, 28.
