Authorities in Santa Rosa arrested a 16-year-old girl for loitering with the intent to engage in prostitution on Tuesday, police said. Santa Rosa police officers and Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies conducted an investigation concerning an underage girl after being provided information from agents of the Department of Homeland Security in Southern California, according to police.
Police said the joint investigation led to the discovery of a 16-year-old girl at a Santa Rosa hotel. She was arrested for loitering with the intent to engage in prostitution. Police said the girl does not appear to have relatives in Northern California. She was taken to the Sonoma County Juvenile Hall. No one was found acting as her pimp, but police said she is likely the victim of human trafficking. Further information was not immediately available.
