A Sunnyvale man thought to be a high-ranking member of a Norteno gang was sentenced to 12 years in prison for methamphetamine trafficking Wednesday, according to federal prosecutors. Jose Miguel Aguilar, believed to be one of the highest-ranking members of the Varrio Via Sol gang, was indicted on Oct. 17, 2013, in connection with an incident in which he sold no less than 126 grams of methamphetamine to five buyers. Aguilar, who was on probation for two state convictions at the time, pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine on Dec. 18, 2013.
