Police in Oakland are asking for the public’s help identifying and locating a cellphone theft suspect from a crime committed more than a month ago. The theft occurred on Feb. 2 at about 1:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Telegraph Avenue, police said. Police said the victim was walking on Telegraph Avenue when the suspect reached into her purse and removed her cellphone, and fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a black man between 20 and 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The investigation is ongoing.
