Two Teens Shot in Castroville

Two males were wounded Wednesday outside a residence in Castroville after a pair of suspects fired multiple shots from a handgun and shotgun, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. Robert Serrano Jr. and Jesse Santoyo, both 18, were outside their home at 11240 Wood St. at 8:17 p.m. Wednesday when two suspects on foot fired rounds from a 9mm pistol and a shotgun before fleeing, deputies said.

Serrano was taken to a local hospital for treatment for a wound in his upper right arm and Santoyo was flown by helicopter to a hospital after being wounded in the buttocks, deputies said. One of the suspects being sought in the shooting is 19-year-old   according to the sheriff’s office. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, deputies said.
