Oakland police released a sketch today of a man who is suspected of inappropriately touching students at two elementary schools in East Oakland in the past two months. The most recent incident occurred at the World Academy charter school in the 1700 block of 28th Avenue last Friday, when a 7-year-old girl reported that she had been approached by a stranger and that he had inappropriately touched her.
The girl was able to get away and alert an adult and the school was placed on lockdown, but officers who searched the area couldn’t find the suspect. Police believe the same man was involved in an incident at the Think Now Elementary School in the 2800 block of International Boulevard on Jan. 24, when a suspect allegedly grabbed and touched a 6-year-old girl in an inappropriate manner.
The girl struggled and was able to get away and alert an adult, according to police. The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man between the ages of 20 and 40 who is 6 feet tall, weighs between 180 and 200 pounds and has black hair and a mustache. They say the suspect also may have a rash or birthmark on the left side of his forehead.
