A man who was fatally shot in unincorporated North Richmond on Saturday night has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as 23-year-old Nelson Earl Hamilton III.

Hamilton and three other people were shot at about 10 p.m. Saturday in front of a home in the 1600 block of First Street, Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

Hamilton and another victim were taken by a private vehicle to Doctors Medical Center in San Pablo. Hamilton was then flown by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Lee said.

The two other victims stayed at the scene and were taken by ambulance to John Muir, Lee said.

All of the surviving victims suffered injuries that are not life-threatening, he said.

No arrests had been made in the case as of this afternoon and no suspect information was available, Lee said.
