A suspect with active arrest warrants in several states was arrested Friday night in Monterey County, according to the sheriff’s office. At around 7 p.m., deputies responded to reports of two trucks driving recklessly in San Ardo on Main Street, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. An investigation led deputies to a nearby residence, where both suspect trucks could be seen through a locked gate.
A license plate check revealed that one of the trucks had been reported stolen out of Oregon. Deputies used loud speakers to contact people inside the residence, and two suspects emerged without incident. One suspect, Jonathan Joseph Thomas, consented to search of his person, which yielded keys to the stolen truck, the sheriff’s office said. A subsequent investigation revealed that Thomas had active arrest warrants in California, Missouri, Kansas and Illinois, according to the sheriff’s office.
In the stolen truck, deputies found around .5 grams of methamphetamine, 157 prescription pills, 2 grams of marijuana, a pipe and a syringe, the sheriff’s office said. Thomas allegedly admitted having the contraband for personal use, and he was arrested and booked at Monterey County Jail for possessing stolen property and drug offenses.
