Two men were arrested Tuesday on marijuana charges after being stopped for speeding on U.S. Highway 101 in Cloverdale, according to the California Highway Patrol. A CHP officer stopped a speeding 2005 Scion on southbound Highway 101 near Dutcher Creek Road at about 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, the CHP said. The driver, 22-year-old Patrick Cadieux, told the officer he and the passenger,

32-year-old James Donning, were heading to their homes in New Mexico from Humboldt County. The CHP said, however, the occupants of the car may have been heading from New Mexico. During the stop, the officer smelled marijuana odor in the car. A search then revealed about 16 pounds of marijuana, according to the CHP. Cadieux and Donning were both booked into jail on suspicion of possession and transportation of marijuana for sale.
