Newark Police Reopen Road Following Assault Investigation

Police in Newark have reopened a street following an investigation into an apparent assault earlier this morning. At about 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a phone call reporting that a female had been assaulted at a home at 7155 Mahews Landing Road, according to Newark police.

Arriving officers found an injured female and detained a second female for questioning, police said. The victim was taken to a local trauma center with potentially life threatening injuries, police said. One block of Mahews Landing Road was closed for several hours while an investigation was under way. Further information about the case was not going to be released today, police said.
