Chicago police are asking for the public’s help finding a 20-year-old Daryl Lee wanted in the slaying of a 16-year-old Marquise Harris at his West Woodlawn home three weeks ago.
Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Lee in the alleged Jan. 11 shooting of Harris, in the two-flat style brick home in the 6200 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue where Harris lived, officials said. Cook County Criminal Court Judge Sandra Ramos issued a no-bail allowed arrest warrant for alleged first-degree murder for Lee on Thursday in a hearing in Criminal Court Branch 48, according to court records.
The fatal shooting happened about 11:20 p.m. Jan. 11 during a gathering inside the apartment, police said. Family members told WGN-TV that Harris and his brother intervened in a fight that a cousin, who lives on another floor in the building.
Police said at the time that a fight between the victim and his girlfriend was involved, and that another male intervened, and he and the 16-year-old began fighting, police said. The male who intervened left the apartment but returned soon after and shot the 16-year-old in the chest, according to police.
