Two people were seriously injured this afternoon in a shooting that occurred on state Highway 4 in Bay Point, according to the California Highway Patrol. Two vehicle were involved in the confrontation on westbound Highway near Willow Pass Road, which occurred around 2:45 p.m., according to CHP Officer Daniel Hill.
A caller reported at 2:51 p.m. that the two vehicles had been involved in a confrontation in which shots were fired, and that one of the vehicles had swerved and struck the caller’s vehicle, Hill said. The caller got off the freeway and called the CHP, but the vehicles involved in the shooting did not stop and left the area. The CHP received notification a short time later that two male subjects had been dropped off at Contra Costa County Regional Hospital with gunshot wounds, Hill said.
One had moderate injuries and one had major injuries. Both were taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment. The vehicle that dropped them at the hospital left without providing identification, Hill said. The CHP is asking anyone who witnessed this incident or who has information on the suspects of their vehicles to call (707) 551-4100.
