A 38-year-old man was killed in a drive-by shooting in North Richmond on Thursday night, a Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman said today.

Deputies responded around 10:30 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 600 block of Fourth Street and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee.

The man was taken to Doctors Medical Center in San Pablo and was later airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he died from his injuries early this morning, Lee said.

Investigators at the scene of the shooting found that gunfire also struck a nearby home and vehicle during the shooting. However, no other injuries were reported, Lee said.

He said the sheriff’s office has no leads and has not identified a suspect or motive for the killing.

An investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
