A San Jose State University police officer shot a suspect near campus late this morning, a police captain said. The shooting was reported at 10:59 a.m. near South Eighth and East San Salvador streets, San Jose fire officials said. SJSU police Capt. Alan Cavallo said a campus police officer shot the suspect, who was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment. Cavallo did not immediately have information on the person’s condition. San Jose police are investigating the officer-involved shooting and were expected to release more information about the case later this afternoon.
