Fairfield police arrested a man on suspicion of possession of child pornography Monday after he was seen photographing children near the Westfield Shoppingtown mall, a police sergeant said today.
Police responded around 11:30 a.m. to the 1200 block of Dana Drive after receiving a complaint about a man taking pictures of children, Sgt. Troy Oviatt said. They contacted 53-year-old Eric Schroeder, of Fairfield, and arrested him on suspicion of annoying children under 18 years old.
Police then found hundreds of downloaded images of child pornography when they executed a search warrant in Schroeder’s apartment. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography and duplication of child pornography, Oviatt said.
Schroeder does not have a criminal record, Oviatt said.
