A woman was arrested on suspicion of drug and burglary charges after she was found with a shooting victim this afternoon, Vallejo police said today. Police officers called to the 700 block of Modoc Street around 2 p.m. located a 32-year-old man who had been shot in his upper body, according to Lt. Kenny Park. The victim was accompanied by a 31-year-old woman named Tiana Berry, and police determined that the two had been standing in a parking lot underneath a carport at a nearby apartment complex when the man was shot, Park said.
The man then walked over to a nearby residence and asked them to call police. The male victim told police that he had been shot by an unknown black male. However, officers searched the area with a police dog and located a handgun hidden in some nearby bushes, which they determined had been hidden there by Berry, Park said. After learning Berry was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine and also had two warrants out of Napa County for drug and burglary charges, officers arrested her, Park said. The victim’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. He was taken to a hospital by ambulance for treatment, Park said.
