Rakeem Perkins, the man Dallas police had sought in connection with the shooting of Officer Joshua Burns, is being treated for injuries after turning himself in at Dallas police headquarters on Saturday evening. He is accused of shooting Officer Joshua Burns three times when Burns was responding to a disturbance in far northeast Dallas, police said.

When Officer Burns and another officer responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex, they encountered Perkins sitting in a vehicle.

Perkins began shooting at the officers, who returned fire, police said. He fled, and a manhunt ensued. Shortly before 6 p.m., Perkins, wounded and escorted by his mother, turned himself in.
