Suspect Surrenders in Shooting Death of Store Clerk Caught on Tape, Second Suspect Still Outstanding

Kenneth Bardlett surrendered after Bensenville, Illinois police released surveillance video from Sam’s Tobacco and Food Mart in Bensenville, where a clerk was shot and killed Sunday.

The video shows clerk Hussein Saghir, 36, of Chicago and another employee exiting the store when they were confronted by two men. During a brief struggle, one of the men displayed a handgun and shot Saghir before both men fled. Kenneth Bardlett surrendered but the second suspect remains at large.

When police arrived, they found Saghir, who had been shot, on the ground in front of the business. Paramedics transported him to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
