Oakland Police Investigating Reports Of Possible Carjacking and Kidnapping

Oakland police are investigating reports of a possible carjacking and child abduction near a Safeway store off of state Highway 13, police said in a Nixle alert this afternoon.

Police received reports around 1 p.m. of a suspect who was seen entering a car outside the Safeway at 4100 Redwood Road and forcing the driver to drive away, police said.

Witnesses reported that there was a child in the backseat of the car, according to police.

The car is described as a red 2001 Infiniti with a California license plate number of 6JFM648.

Anyone who sees the car is instructed to call 911 immediately.
