A parolee who was arrested early this morning on a felony warrant after barricading himself inside a San Jose home overnight has been identified by police as 42-year-oldMark Daniel Cuellar. Cuellar, a San Jose resident, was taken into custody at 5:35 a.m. by SWAT officers who pulled him from a crawl space at a home in the 3200 block of Vernice Avenue, police spokesman Officer Albert Morales said.
At about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, police had received a 911 call about a man wanted on a felony arrest warrant who was inside the home on Vernice, Morales said. Police said the warrant was drug-related and that the man had violated his parole. When police contacted the man at the home, he refused to come out, and officers set up a perimeter and began to evacuate nearby homes, police said. Cuellar’s family members all exited the house but he remained inside, Morales said.
Cuellar remained in the home all night until SWAT officers entered the residence this morning, found him in the crawl space, removed him and took him into custody, Morales said. Police arrested Cuellar on the felony warrant and for violating his parole, Morales said. No one was injured, police said.
