A Pittsburg man was arrested last weekend after officers allegedly caught him and two other suspects burglarizing a car near the Union Landing Shopping Center in Union City. Detectives were conducting a special enforcement operation at the shopping center around 6:45 p.m. when they noticed three suspects breaking into a vehicle and removing items from the car, police said.
The suspects fled in their own car onto neighboring streets and the police detectives followed them onto Palm Drive, about a mile away from the shopping center, police said. The suspects fled on foot and abandoned the vehicle, which was impounded by police. The detectives found stolen property in the car and returned it to the victim, police said.
Police said 22-year-old Marquece Beck-Natson, of Pittsburg, was arrested in connection with the burglary on Wednesday when he reported his vehicle stolen to Union City police. Police are still attempting to locate the two other suspects. The public is advised to hide or remove their valuables from their vehicles to avoid becoming targeted by potential burglars, police said.
