A 19-year-old man who was killed in a DUI crash in San Jose on Thursday night has been identified as Alex Jacob Jaramillio, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Jaramillio was in a red 1966 Volkswagen Beetle that overturned after it was struck by a Nissan on state Highway 85 near Camden Avenue at about 11:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
When officers arrived, the Nissan was resting on its wheels on the highway’s right shoulder and the Volkswagen was on its roof and blocking two left lanes, CHP officials said.
Jaramillo was extracted from the vehicle and taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he later died.
The driver of the Nissan, Kylendra Kumar, 27, of San Jose, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after being treated for his injuries.
